Yoga Exercises

Yoga exercises are the core of any yoga practice. Whether they are used for physical attributes only, or for a more spiritual nature, yoga exercises develop flexibility, balance, and strength.

Listed in the following pages are three of the most basic yoga poses, or 'asanas' found in virtually any system. These basic poses fall under the category of Hatha yoga which simply refers to purely physical movements. Many yoga types utilize Hatha yoga as a primer for venturing into meditative, or pranayama (energy movement) exercises.

This posture is great for an overall body stretch which emphasizes the back of the legs and the spine.

The Warrior pose is good for developing strength and stability in the legs. Its powerful stance is bold and strong.

This is a great wake-me-up for the morning which emphasizes the spine. Flexing the spine In reverse is always a positive stretch to counter the daily stress.

For further exploration of these yoga exercises, there are a number of yoga products including yoga DVD's, relaxation music, and many books available to further your quest. However, qualified yoga instruction is highly recommenced for beginners.
