Warrior Pose I

warrior pose

  • Start with the feet in a wide stance more than shoulder width apart. Face forward (north) with the hands on the hips.
  • Turn the left foot to the left at a 90 degree angle so it is facing west. Turn the right foot in towards the body 30 degrees. The pelvis should now be facing west. Make sure the pelvis is completely parallel with the west. Adjust the right foot if necessary.
  • Shift your weight onto the left leg so that your left leg is bent, and the right leg is straight. Press the edge of your right foot into the ground to make sure that right leg stays straight.
  • Bring the extended arms straight out in front of you pointing towards the west. Raise them up above your head and extend them upwards towards the ceiling. Keep the head looking straight west.
  • For an extra push, tilt the head back and gaze at the finger tips.
